Welcome at Cafe De Walvis (The Whale)
De Walvis has been a save haven in the fast growing and working-class Spaandammer district since 2012. A cafe for everyone. De Walvis offers elaborate lunches, dinners and aperitifs in a familiar atmosphere. A well-deserved gin and tonic after work, a specialized beer to close off the weekend or a quick sandwich, De Walvis is ready and open to serve you seven days per week.
Did you know that De Walvis is also a true football fan? We broadcast all Ajax’s matches and those of the Dutch national team on a big screen.
When you have something to celebrate and would like to give a party or would like to go out for dinner with a group of colleagues or friends, De Walvis is open to your questions, suggestions and flexible towards your requirement.

You’ll find our classics like the steak sandwich with Walvis butter and ‘bitterballen’ from Holtkamp, and also exciting dishes like Camembert fondue and Zeeland mussels with fries from Zuyd.
Every Wednesday is burger day with the burger of the week for 12.50. Come and taste it!

The spacious ground floor with its long bar is perfect for celebrating a birthday, hosting a graduation party, or any other event. Whether it’s a gathering of 10 or 150 guests, it fits! We serve snacks and drinks according to your wishes.
The upper floor of De Walvis offers the possibility to dine with groups of up to 50 people. From start to finish, everything is taken care of. This brochure outlines the options for dinners, lunches, and drinks. We are always open to suggestions and are happy to hear your wishes.
