De Walvis has been a popular spot in the fast growing and working-class Spaandammer district since 2012. A cafe for everyone.
De Walvis offers elaborate lunches, dinners and aperitifs in a familiar atmosphere. A well-deserved gin and tonic after work, a craft beer to close off the weekend or a quick sandwich, de Walvis is happy to welcome you.
Join us seven days a week for lunch, drinks with bites, and dinner. We recommend making a reservation to ensure you have a table.
At De Walvis you can enjoy food and drinks at the bar on the ground floor and in the restaurant on the first floor, or outside on the terrace, all year round.
Open daily from noon.
PUB QUIZ
Good news for all quiz lovers: De Walvis hosts a fun Pub Quiz every second Tuesday of the month!
Gather your smartest friends, best colleagues, or most competitive family members and put your knowledge to the test while enjoying a drink and some tasty bites. Expect an evening full of surprising questions, a great atmosphere, and a healthy dose of competition. And of course, there are some great prizes to win!
Teams can consist of up to 5 people, and the entry fee is €5 per team. Doors open at 7:30 pm. Sign up via Instagram or simply at the bar.
Summer break. There will be no Pub Quiz in July and August. We’ll be back in September with a brand-new quiz, so keep an eye on our agenda!

The spacious ground floor with its long bar is perfect for celebrating a birthday, hosting a graduation party, or any other event. Whether it’s a gathering of 10 or 150 guests, it fits! We serve snacks and drinks according to your wishes.
The upper floor of De Walvis offers the possibility to dine with groups of up to 50 people. From start to finish, everything is taken care of. This brochure outlines the options for dinners, lunches, and drinks. We are always open to suggestions and are happy to hear your wishes.
